What Causes Fibroids?
Have fibroids been a normal part of your life? Despite what you may have been told, they are not a normal hormonal process and should not be ignored, even if they aren’t causing you any immediate symptoms. They are still a sign that your hormones are out of balance and your body is asking for help!
What is a fibroid?
Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous overgrowths of fiber or muscle tissue in the pelvic area, around or inside the uterus.
They can be painful and associated with excessive PMS symptoms., infertility, endometriosis, and hypothyroidism.
Women with fibroids are generally estrogen dominant and have low levels of progesterone.
There are several risk factors and some include
Consuming an inorganic diet high in chemicals
Additives or pesticides/herbicides
High xenoestrogen exposure (estrogen mimicking compounds in personal care products)
Insulin resistance
Excess weight
*Use of birth control pills which contribute to accumulation of synthetic estrogen in the body
How do we support the body to help get rid of fibroids?
Choosing organic food and filtered water
Switch to natural personal care products
Eating balanced meals with enough protein, fat, carbs and fiber
Support liver detoxification
Get adequate sleep
Using functional lab testing, specifically a DUTCH test is the best way to determine what your hormone levels are which are important when needing to address the root cause of fibroids. Other helpful tests include testing for overall environmental toxin load and heavy metals. The reason for this is those toxins need to drain out of the body and often can impact our lower organs including the uterus causing stagnation and accumulation.
