Sneaky Causes of Fatigue

Feeling fatigued all the time can start to make you feel depressed. There are so many reasons why you might be fatigued that aren't listed here, it really depends on so many factors but these are sometimes missed when identifying causes.

Underlying Causes

Excessive Blue Light

Hypocaloric

Poor Digestion

Magnesium Deficiency

Not enough REM sleep

Lack of Joy / Motivation

Sleeping too late

Always sedentary

Not enough Salt & Potassium

Heavy Metal Toxicity

If you are exposed to excessive blue light - computers, phones, fluorescent lighting - & also general EMF exposure will completely deplete your mitochondria which is where we derive our energy from. Investing in blue blockers, limiting screen time & using EMF protection like cell phone cases & laptop guards is a must these days if you want to maintain energy & prevent disease.

If you're not eating enough calories for your body weight - or more commonly if you're not eating nutrient dense foods, it's like pulling the rug out from under your body. How can you expect it to produce hormones, neurotransmitters or digestive enzymes without giving it the proper fuel?

Poor digestion, slow transit time & poor ability to absorb nutrients from your food will absolutely cause fatigue. Your body spends up to 60% of its energy digesting a meal. So if you're choosing heavy, dense foods for every meal you won't feel energized since your body cannot focus on anything other than digestion.

Magnesium deficiency is a bit one for those with chronic illness & chronic fatigue. Check out my previous post on Mg for more on that!

Lack of deep sleep is nearly at epidemic proportions due to sleep apnea, EMF toxicity, parasites, light pollution & insulin resistance. All of these factors significantly reduce your bodies ability to go into REM sleep so making gradual adjustments is key.

Feeling apathetic & like you've lost your joy? I think for many this is the number one reason for fatigue. Despite all the nonsense going on in our world today - you deserve to experience joy everyday. Don't feel guilty for that or for realizing this is an internal need for not just surviving but also thriving.

Sleeping too late, past 8:00 for instance causes you to skip over a natural cortisol rise we experience before that time. This is our get up & go hormone so when you miss it & wake up late it will make you feel more drowsy.

If you don't move your body you can't train or increase the amount of mitochondria you have which is key to improving energy levels. Start small & don't be discouraged that you're not where you want to be.

I see many people that fear salt unnecessarily. Salt is a nutrient & no it doesn't cause high blood pressure. Eating junk food all the time does- that's the salt you want to avoid. Add a pinch of Himalayan salt & fresh lime to your water in the morning for an energy boost.

Heavy metals are so abundant in our environment & they inhibit so many vital processes our body needs to perform. They often exchange themselves for other minerals like calcium & can go undetected for years.

If fatigue is something you've been struggling to get to the bottom of, don't be afraid to reach out for help to investigate to root cause. It can be debilitating & destroy your quality of life, so don't struggle any longer!
