What Causes Estrogen Dominance?
Why is Estrogen Dominance so common these days?
The answer is pretty simple. Our environment has an exorbitant amount of toxins our liver has to process, our food quality is poor & our stress level is high. This is the perfect recipe for estrogen dominance.
Estrogen is the primary female sex hormone in women (men have too) & there are three major endogenous estrogen (estrogen our body makes) estrone, estradiol & estriol.
Our other primary sex hormone is progesterone which helps balance out estrogen. Did you know from age 35-50 there is a 75% reduction in the production of progesterone in the body? During that time estrogen only drops 35% making us more likely to experience estrogen dominance.
Some symptoms of estrogen dominance include PMS, low sex drive, heavy periods, bloating, weight gain, irritability, hair loss, fatigue & infertility.
Estrogen dominance doesn't happen overnight as it's typically due to an accumulation of the listed toxicities.
